About

From a very young age, Jeanne Crommelynck was drawn to photography. It began with her grandfather, hours spent archiving boxes of old prints and filming the quiet rhythm of everyday life, and with her mom, who had a deep love for portraiture and the stories faces hold.
Now a photographer and a graduate in migration and international affairs, she brings visual storytelling and social engagement. Her work explores the nuances of (forced) mobility, empathy, intimacy, and the power of careful attention.
Through her lens, she illuminates what often remains unseen, tracing the beauty of the everyday, the resilience of individuals, and the voices expressed through artistic and activist forms.
Her focus on mobility deepened while volunteering in an orientation centre for unaccompanied minors. Wanting to offer more than language lessons or structured activities, she brought her camera along on a group outing to the sea. It was a simple gesture, but something shifted. When one of the boys saw his portrait and asked, “Wow, is that me?”, she understood that photography could be more than documentation; it could offer dignity. It could be a way of saying: you are seen.
From that moment, she began to imagine a project around (im)mobility: capturing the stillness within forced displacement, and the humanity that persists through interrupted journeys.
